Another Cleaning...

Just when I was so pumped up in updating the blog for my end of the year entry, my Dad arrives telling us to do general cleaning. Wonder if the maid is ever coming back from her so-called vacation. She's not returning calls nor answering my text messages.

Anyway, I'm off to clean the house with my brother. I think I'll have this blog updated maybe later in the afternoon or tonight when all the ruckus has died down.

What I want for Christmas

In tradition to what everyone does, I've decided to post my Christmas wish list after all. But unlike everyone else who's got top 10's I've only got a top 3 list. And they are as follows.

#3 Playstation 3 Games
Due to my limited budget, I haven't been able to buy the games I want for my PS3. There are exactly 3 games that I want to at least have even if it takes me until next year to get them all. Metal Gear Solid 4, Valkyria Chronicles and Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm.

#2 Shiny Tech Gadgets
There are only 2 tech gadgets I want this Christmas. One would be the Motorola E6 Rokr and the other a Sony Vaio CR Series Red Notebook.

#1 Confidential
And my number 1 is... well, I can't really say this out in public right now since its a bit more of a personal subject. Let's just say it has something to do with my life. Maybe one day when all is well, I'll be going back to this post and editing it when I've finally set things right.

And there you have it, my lame top 3 Christmas list.

When age gets the better of you...

It's 2 am and I'm still up hanging around with my virtual avatar at Playstation Home. Sometimes I think of myself as pathetic when I seek for this type of escape. Instead of the real thing, I somehow feel as if I'm more at home on the online world. Perhaps its because of the sense of anonymity and hiding behind something you think is your ideal persona. A dear friend once said that I am totally different online than in real life. I'm beginning to agree as well. Some people have recently commented that I'm more bold online than in real life. Perhaps its because I would like to avoid senseless confrontation in real life? Perhaps its because I don't want to have to explain every little detail to everyone that I don't have to be a conformist to survive in this world? Or perhaps its because I just want to avoid people who think too highly of themselves and that gives them every reason to trample on everyone else's feelings? Whatever the reason, I firmly believe that my voice is louder on these blogs than in real life. Maybe one day I may be able to talk like the way I write on my blogs and stop hiding behind a facade of feelings and emotions.

In case you are wondering, that's a picture of Sackboy (the main character and star of the PS3 exclusive title, LittleBigPlanet). He was supposed to be given away as a prize but unfortunately, only a few people know about LittleBigPlanet here in the Philippines and platform-gaming isn't too big here unless you count Super Mario. Anyway, that picture was taken while we were on the bus on the way to Libis. Hid3o my good friend and buddy ordered this directly from Japan and thanks to him for this wonderful prize. Too bad no one claimed him, but for now, he will be on Hid3o's shelves waiting for another day, another time until he can be adopted into a home. ^^

It was a tedious yet fun and fulfilling day yesterday at the Eastwood Plaza mall. I'd like to blog the details but I'm too tired and lazy to remember them all. We were lucky enough to be able to use 3 TVs, We had a Tekken Tournament and an LBP Race Event. Sadly no one registered for LBP but a ton of people entered the Tekken Tournament. This just goes to show you that fighting games, along with FPSes and MMOs are the Filipino's preferred genres. It was a lot of fun. Urbandub was there for the final act, we had a blast interacting with people, and a few of us were interviewed by a few TV stations. I was interviewed by an odd guy who is one of the hosts of the TV show called Pinoy Gamer by the Makisig Network. I was really into it though the bright light flashed at your face while staring at the camera was a bit distracting. Also, I don't get why the guy who interviewed me cracked those wierd non-sensical jokes. Anyway, others were interviewed by Net 25 and Hero TV.

Of course thanks are in order. Thank you to Playground Magazine, for being patient with us and for continuing to have us included in your events. Thanks to Jam 88.3 who was there to spice up the entertainment and promote the show. Thank you to Gamehopper/Brico for lending us your 3 wonderful 37" HDTVs. I'd recommend that you guys try out their TVs. Our games on the PS3 looked crisp on those screens.

I'm still jobless at the moment. I've gotten word that Teletech is trying to stabilize its call operations before it goes to a full blast hiring. I'm still hopeful that I would get in but you can never be too sure. Just in case, I've got 2 other backup jobs waiting in line but they're a bit farther from home. A compromise I can live with.

I've also gotten a lot busy doing stuff at church. A few days ago, I repaired some of the Network lines, setup a Wifi zone and assembled a new computer for one of the elders. I'll be doing more probably tomorrow since the new LCD projector has arrived. I need to setup one of the newer laptops for that LCD. Of course aside from my IT stuff, I'm back to playing the guitars (lead, rhythm and bass) for worship service with the church band. I'm a bit dissapointed though on how they treated my guitar when I lent it to them. There are scratchmarks on the red paint plus I noticed a chip on the wooden body. If this were an acoustic guitar the sound would have been ruined. I really wanted to donate a new guitar to the church, but seeing how they treated my guitar, I might think over it first. I'm also graduating from Bible Study Leading by January if the schedule permits it. My Pastor says that there is now an even greater demand for Bible Study leaders so we need to train hard, right and quick. I'm still not sure if I qualify for the job since I've been through a lot, but the Pastor says that I'm ready and it should be no problem for me since I've gone through the School of Workers for church doctrine twice already. I pray to the Lord that he tells me what to do and helps me decide which path I should take from here on.

The year is almost to an end. 2008 has been an eye-openner in many ways. It may be perhaps one of the most influential years of my life. I've experienced joy, happiness, saddness, loneliness and anger. I've stumbled here, recovered there but I do believe that some things will never change. What those traits may be, I don't know. But as ZT always used to say, "You take the good, you take the bad, you take them both, and there you have. The facts of life..."

Thirdworldgamer...

I've been eyeing this blog for a while and I think I'd had enough of his flamebait posts. His recent posts about the "PS3 is a sinking ship" just really stirs me up. I'll admit I own a PS3 and I'm a member of PinoyPS.com. I play Xbox 360 games too. I love Halo 3 and Gears of War as much as I love Resistance 2 and Little Big Planet. I just really don't get this guy. Earlier on he deleted one of my comments when all I did was tell him that his posts were flaimbait material. Yeah I agree its news but there's a hidden agenda. He's indirectly trying to frustrate the people of PinoyPS because he thinks PinoyPXB is much cooler and hip.

Mr. ThirdWorldGamer. Prove to yourself that you are a real gamer by not doing this kind of stuff. We all know the bickering going on between PinoyPS and PinoyPXB but this has got to stop. How come you only publish the negative news on the PS3? When some positive news comes out, you scorn it instead and change it into something atrocious. I made a comment a while back during your news on the LittleBigPlanet server issues but you had to delete it. Why? I only commented that the way you posted it was bound to attract fanboys. Now you had to go in and totally block all comments on your blog.

A real gamer, plays the GAMES and not the CONSOLES. Out of my respect for your writing prowess, this will be the last time you hear from me. But if you do continue this type of posting, please expect to hear from me more.

Bloody Red

The layout has finally come together and the blog is officially launched! Forgive me for the painful hue of red but I kinda like this color a lot. The skittles "red" you see above is a testament to that!

The day started slow when I replaced the plate number lights on the car. Dad wanted the decorative lights he put on the car a few months ago so he could transfer it to the van, but I kinda screwed up and damaged the lights. It's easy to repair though. A few soldering here and there and its good as new.

I also accompanied the Pastor from one of our outreaches along with my Pastor Raymond. He wanted me to give him a reasonably priced quote for a computer that they could use at their church. He was satisfied with the quote I came up with so we're going back to PCX tomorrow to pick up the computer then I'll be heading to church to install software and other stuff.

We had an interesting meeting today. Pastor Raymond gathered all the Young Professionals. He treated us to a Japanese restaurant while we talked. He wanted us to take a more active stance in church since we are sort of now the leaders of the Youth Ministry and also the vanguard of the Music Ministry. I'll be playing the guitars regularly once again and I'll be starting on Sunday.

Might I also add that before the meeting I went to see the movie "The Day the Earth Stood Still". Everyone must go watch this movie. I believe it is one of the more convincing roles that Keanu Reaves has taken since the Matrix Trilogy. I was also surprised to see and hear Keanu speak in Mandarin, since he spoke to a Chinese guy. The movie's theme may have changed from the old classic way back in the 1950's but it still has the same principle. Man is a violent creature, but man also changes in the pinnacle of his troubles. Anyway enough blabbing, just go and watch it.
